In the backcountry, every ounce is a choice. You shouldn’t have to choose between a fluid pan head for glassing and a leveling ball head for shooting. With the BT-20 Ridge Warden, you don't have to. Engineered to pull double duty without the weight penalty, this is the definitive one-head solution for the mountain athlete and precision hunter.

One Head. Two Jobs. Zero Compromise.

The Ridge Warden isn't just another ball head—it’s a precision instrument. Featuring a unique Automatic Tilt-Locking mechanism, it allows you to snap into a dedicated tilt-only axis for smooth, rock-steady panning while glassing. When it’s time to take the shot, instantly bypass the lock to free the ball, allowing you to level your rifle on uneven terrain with surgical precision.

Ultralight Build, Heavyweight Performance

Weighing in at a staggering 3.3oz without handle and 3.8oz with, the Ridge Warden is one of the lightest heads on the market. But don't let the minimalist footprint fool you; it delivers the stability and vibration dampening typically reserved for bulky, heavy gear. It confidently supports medium spotting scopes and lightweight rifles, ensuring your view stays crisp and your shot stays true.

Smoothness You Can Feel

Long hours behind the glass can lead to "eye fatigue" if your gear is jumpy. The Ridge Warden features a fluid-damped feel in both tilt and pan movements. This consistent resistance allows you to pick apart distant hillsides with effortless, micro-adjustments, keeping you comfortable during extended scouting sessions.

Precision Engineering & Custom Fit

  • Customizable Ergonomics: Borrowing the smart design of the Nighthawk line, it includes an adjustable carbon fiber handle, allowing you to tailor the ergonomics to your specific tripod and packing style.

  • Rugged Construction: Proudly Made in the USA, the Ridge Warden is machined from billet aluminum and stainless steel, then finished with a deep black anodization to shrug off the harshest mountain weather.

Ridge Warden

Paired with an Aziak Backcountry tripod, I think I’ve got one of the highest quality for the weight glassing setups you can have.
Also, you can’t go wrong ordering through S&S. Great company with a great purpose. Super fast shipping too!

This is an amazingly lightweight ball head. It is a bit difficult at first to adjust though. Once you get the hang of it, then it works great. I've used it for photography so far, but will be using it as a spotting scope mount and for my arca rail rifle.
