The PRO 624 CF has four short leg sections that extend to a maximum height of 44.7 inches but close down to remarkable 14 inches. With a weight of 1.8 lbs this tripod is an easy traveler that can be used in situations where a full-sized tripod would not be needed or not be convenient to carry. Also included is a spring loaded center post hook.

Features of the SLIK PRO CF Carbon Fiber Series

Multi-layered Carbon Fiber
Carbon Fiber material is actually comprised of layers of woven carbon strands that are then baked together in a high-pressure furnace. When finishes this material is as much as 40% lighter than aluminium and very rigid, making it for applications from space vehicles to tripod legs. Slik sources it’s carbon fiber tubing in Europe from a manufacturer that specializes in carbon fiber.

A.R.S (Ant-Rotational System)
All the New SLIK PRO carbon fiber tripods feature a new A.R.S (Ant-Rotational System) designed into the legs and log locks. The A.R.S. systems prevent the leg tubes from rotating inside each other making it much easier to lock and release all the twist-release locks securely. The size of the rubber grips have also been increase in diameter to make them easier to operate.

Leg-Lock Type
Twist lock system with double nut ring (crown-cap) type (PAT.).

Multi-Angle Leg Locks
Each leg has an independent lock that sets in one 3 angles to vary the height and stance of the tripod. The three setting are for maximum height, waist level or low angle photography close to the ground. It also makes it easier to set up the tripod on uneven ground, steps or rocks.

Built-in Short Columns
The center columns unscrew into two piece to create a much shorter column for use in low angle photography.

Great quality

Rock solid lockup and quality. Went with the slik over the Sirui CF combo and so far it’s awesome. Will see how it holds up. Great stability in wind while glassing while sitting.

Spend the Money

I hunt a lot and I spend a lot of time glassing. I climb steep mountains so every pound matters. So does compactness, which is why I chose the 624 over the 634. My advice is to spend the money and buy this tripod. It is so much lighter than my 10 year old vanguard. It fits into the side pocket on my SG pack. It is strong and sturdy. I like the shorter size since I almost always glass from a sitting position. I put the Sirui VA5 head on it and could not be happier.

Before I bought I was concerned about whether it was actually lighter than my old tripod and whether it would be worth the money. It is substantially lighter and I would say worth the money. I say that because I actually bring it on every hunt now. Before I could talk myself out of it for one reason or another. This one is so light and compact it never comes out of the side pocket unless I’m glassing.

Even Better than Expected

Fantastic Tripod. Better than I expected. Very stable and fits in my pack perfectly. Hats off to the guys at S&S for recommending it.

The Backcountry Tripod to Compare Against

Still my favorite tripod, I’ve used it for three years now. I've just had one twist-lock break but plastic epoxy put it right back in place from sliding. I even took the rubber dampener on the top of it off to save more weight. Eventually, I got sick of the VA5 head coming off accidentally because I'd try turning when the head was locked. I put down the rarely used Red Loctite because I love the combo so much. Best backcountry tripod setup, it just works and doesn’t skip a beat!
